In August Tautoko Services Options team presented at the NZ Disability Support Network Conference Up for It - Embracing and Leading Change
The presenters are members of the Options team who live and work in the Lower North Island. Jan Perkins, Ceo of Tautoko Services is the emcee of the team and interviewed each of the six presenters.
During 2015, Jed, Ashley, Bryce and recently Jolene have taken on the role of ‘Events Organisers.’ Developing friendships, being able to speak up, improving personal relationships and being able to make decisions and choices are some of the goals of the organisers.
I had always been a very independent hardworking man, a good pastry chef in a bakery in Motueka. Life was good. In one day life changed, I felt weak and but still got on my bike and went off to work.
We completed an adult sensory assessment with a mother of four who had returned to university to study. Her children had been identified as having sensory processing difficulties, this made her think about her own difficulties with adjusting to life at uni and decided a sensory assessment would be a good place to start.
